Willa Walker Bean Collection
Willa Walker Bean (b. 1919) of Columbia, South Carolina, served as a pharmacist and occupational therapist in the United States Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) from 1944-1945.
This collection includes military documents, a photograph, and an oral history transcription.
Grace I. Brown Collection
Grace I. Brown served in the Army Nurse Corps in England during World War I.
Three letters from 1918 to 1919 describe some of Brown's experiences during the war. Subjects include the conditions and entertainment on her ship across the Atlantic; living conditions in camp; and food supplies and rations in England.

Joseph M. Bryan (1896-1995) was an insurance executive, broadcasting pioneer, philanthropist, and important community leader in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The Joseph M. Bryan papers date from 1858 to 1995 (bulk 1900s) and contain correspondence, speeches, photographs, diplomas, publications, newspaper clippings, VHS video and assorted ephemeral items.

Edith O'Neill Letter
The letter is dated 14 October, 1918. O'Neill, writing from Bresse, France, describes the difficulties in finding lodging; the character of the town and people of Bresse; exchanging currency; and serving "cocoa; and coffee and soda water; ice cream and cakes" to and talking with with United States soldiers.
Mabel R. Holmes Record Book
Mabel R. Holmes served in the United States Army Nurse Corps during World War I. Holmes was given the assignment as Chief Army Nurse on September 19, 1918. On July 7, 1919, she worked at the Base Hospital at Camp Lee in Virginia.

Two 1917 letters describe Lincoln's desire to return home in the fall of 1917 to join the U.S. Army and her fears that she will not return in time to secure a favorable post.
Nina M. H. National Service School Photograph Album
Nina M. H. served with the paramilitary First National Service School for Girls in 1919, during WWI, which was a program designed to train young women for service in support of the U.S. Military. Album contains 109 photographs documenting Nina's training and also a Victory Parade.
Erma G. Riedel Photograph Album
Photograph album includes over 250 photographs taken by Riedel during her Army Nurse Corps service. Included are images of soldiers and nurses at Fort Des Moines, Iowa and images of nurses, patients, buildings and wards at Camp Kerhuon, France. There are also photographs taken during her travels around France and Italy and of Riedel's return voyage back to the United States. There are also approxiamately 80 commercial photographs of France during the war.
Viola Brown Sanders Collection

World War I Officer's Diary
Unknown officer's diary of the Western Front in France during World War I. The bound diary traces the events of April 1918 to April 1919. The officer describes events such as deploying from Camp Merritt in New Jersey, USA, sailing to Liverpool, England, UK, and eventually being stationed in various locations in the UK and France. Of particular significance is the officer's account of the events of November 11, 1918, when a cease fire was declared and the war was over.
